Kerbside Collection

You can recycle glass jars and bottles through the household collection service using Winchester City Council’s black boxes.

Please ensure recycling is empty and clean. 

Metal lids and bottle tops can be screwed onto glass bottles and jars and will be recycled. (Hampshire Recycles have requested that WCC alter their advice which currently contradicts this.) However, loose or plastic lids and corks should be removed and either recycled separately (not via your household collection) or disposed of in general waste.

Spectacles are not accepted but see our section of Glasses Lenses for schemes to reuse lenses.

Light bulbs are not accepted but see ‘Energy Saving Light Bulbs’ for schemes to recycle these.

Mirrors, cookware, crockery, vases and nail varnish bottles are not accepted for recycling.
